ABOUT

The Juru Immigration Detention Depot was established in 1976 and operated for decades as a major immigration detention facility in Penang. Over time, the depot became overcrowded and dilapidated, with authorities deeming it unsafe and unsuitable for continued use, leading to its replacement by the Jawi Immigration Detention Depot.
