The Mesnil‑Amelot complex, rebuilt in 2011 as two 120‑place units, is the largest immigration detention centre in France. It has been repeated denounced for chronic problems including unsanitary facilities, unsafe water, inadequate heating and food, and abusive treatment of detainees.
