The Nanterre immigration detention center (or “ Local de Rétention Administrative” in French) is a facility where migrants are detained for not more than 48 hours. The facility opened in 2005 with a capacity of 22 beds and detains men. According to governmental sources design flaws in the wastewater system cause persistent sewage odors, and the windowless rooms resemble custody or isolation cells.
